There are no stupid questions when it comes to your HVAC system. We are here to answer them all and help you determine the best course of action for your particular situation. Over the years, we have collected the most common questions and have them here for you.
Q. My house is not cold enough, do I need a bigger A/C unit.
A .This is one of the biggest myths in the air conditioning industry, mainly due to other companies constantly trying to convince customers to upgrade their systems to bigger units just so they can make more money. Some people may need larger systems, but bigger is not always better. There is a very simple way to determine the approximate “ton” of A/C unit you need in your residence. The formula is very simple if you have an energy efficient residence, One ton per 700 square feet. However if your residence is not build to those standards the formula becomes One ton per every 375 to 475 square feet.
It must be said that this formula works in most cases, but not all cases. Depending on the layout of your residence along with other environmental factors you may need a larger unit or you may need a smaller one. Only a certified professional can accurately assess your personal needs. Here at Randel Glass Mechanical we strive to give you the system that is just right for you, and your family.
A. If you have dirty ducts then in most situations a duct cleaning can help your system perform better at this moment. If your duct work gets dirty, it will get dirty again and again. The most cost-effective solution is to make sure your air is filtered before it gets back into your duct work. This will keep your ducts cleaner and therefore more effective over a much longer period of time. We highly recommend a good filtration system to help extend the life of your system and save you the most amount of money. Contact us today to learn about whole-home air filtration systems.
Q. Can I replace part of my A/C System?
A. At some point every homeowner or business owner will have to ask themselves this very question: DO I REPAIR MY SYSTEM OR DO I REPLACE IT? The average HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning) system has a life-span between 8 and 12 years, so every 10 years or so it may be necessary to replace your entire system. If your system is having problems, our qualified technicians can help you make an informed decision when it comes to replacement or repair. We are here to make sure that our customers know which option will save them the most money over time.
Q. What brand of A/C units do you install?
A. We only install trust worthy brands. What is important however is not the brand name, but making sure you get the system that is just right for your home or office. We will install the system that best fits your needs financially, and mechanically.
